"Play. Perform. Produce." With this opening statement, AKAI succinctly describes the incredible capabilities of the new-for-2019 AKAI Force. The Force is a standalone music production and DJ performance device which removes the need for a computer. Fusing the requirements of both DJs and music producers, the Force provides a raft of modern production tools, "setting the precedence for a new industry standard."
Featuring clip-launching, step sequencing, sampling, synth engines, and tactile touch screen control, the Force is an all-encompassing standalone device. To make each of these features as accessible to musicians as possible, an ultra-intuitive interface has been incorporated to allow for unrestrained creativity. The Force has taken the AKAI MPC family as its base and expanded it into an all-encompassing platform.
7-inch multi-touch display
At the heart of the Force is a glorious, 7-inch, multi-touch display, created for maximum sensitivity with its full-capacitive design. This display provides full control over clip launching, MIDI data, samples, XYFX, synth sounds, and much more. Fusing the best elements of hardware and software control, the 7-inch touchscreen display is the gateway to the Force's powerful capabilities.
Multiple Controls
An RGB backlit matrix of 16 pads gives the capability for triggering scenes/clips, finger drumming, and playing note date with an expandable 8x8 clip launch matrix. The Force also features 360-degree, customisable rotary encoders with OLED feedback, giving real-time access to core controls. Elsewhere, navigational buttons provide direct and intuitive control over your projects.
Extensive Connectivity
With the potential to incorporate USB Flash drives, SD cards, and SATA storage, the Force is guaranteed to cover all your storage needs, for now and in the future.
XLR inputs (2 combi inputs with phantom power) and multiple outputs for audio, headphone, CV, and MIDI, allow for a full range of connected gear, both on stage and in the studio. The CV connections provide a tantalising option for modular synth users looking to create a complete setup. Together, this comprehensive versatility allows the user an unprecedented degree of creative freedom and expression, while remaining totally free from constraints of being tethered to a computer.
Performance Capabilities
The power of the AKAI Force lies in its ability to adapt to your needs. As a DJ performance device, the Force has the power to remix, mash-up content, assign tracks to the onboard crossfader, assign content to Force's 8x8 matrix to fuse with scene/clip playback, add onboard XYFX, connect wirelessly to Ableton Link compatible devices, stretch audio using real-time stretch algorithms, and use dedicated cue assign controls and the cue mixer to create the perfect drop!
The Force is built on a clip-centric workflow, letting users combine multiple Modes - with tracks for plugins, MPC-Style drums, audio, keygroup, MIDI and CV. These tracks can then be modified using step sequencing, finger drumming, and note data. Built-in synths (TubeSynth, Bassline, and Electric) and Hype (macro-based engine with several different engines) are provided to create sounds for any project.
With the ability to sample your own audio, use the expansive Factory Drum Track library, create your own sounds with onboard synth engines (via traditional piano roll, arpeggiator, or Note Mode for intelligent chords, progressions, and scales), playback samples chromatically with a MIDI keyboard or onboard pads, send MIDI to external devices, or use the CV outputs; the possibilities are near-limitless!
A producer's dream
Producers can also make use of the Force's advanced sample editing capabilities, looping functions, mixing, step sequencer, onboard AIR effects, and more, to sculpt the sound for any project. Out-the-box, Force comes preloaded with 10GB of must-have sounds from industry leading sample content providers including SampleTools by CR2, MSX Audio and Sample Magic. With 248 Kits, 16 Demo Projects, 2500 Loops and 500 Patterns, Force’s core library provides immediate access to the most sought-after sounds to inspire your creativity.
