Kollade efter test på en sjysst preamp att löda ihop själv när jag hamnade på audiomasterclass.com och följande caveat:
Believe it or not, this is the most popular article on this entire site, by a long, long way. But PLEASE get things into perspective...
To make better recordings you DO NOT need a different preamp to the one you have already (or the one that's built into your audio interface). You need...
Better musical ideas
Better musicianship
Better arrangements
More originality, or better skills in emulating your heroes
Like-minded people to work with
A better singer, or lessons
Skills in mixing acquired through learning and experience
Better instruments
Better acoustics
Straightforward, not fancy, recording techniques
More thought
More second, third and fourth thoughts
More focus
More effort
The willingness to discard something you have laboured on long and hard, because it isn't really working out
Technical skills with your equipment and software
The willingness to go the extra mile (or 1.6 kilometers)
Constant effort on a daily basis
The ability to get people to listen to your work, and tell you honestly what they think
This may perhaps not be an exhaustive list, and it probably isn't in exactly the right order. But...
EVERY ONE of those items on the list will improve your recording a hell of a lot better than a new preamp. When you can tick off every item on the list, then you can think about preamps.
Skönt formulerat och träffsäkert.
